Guide to Registering for Member Self-Service

 

This page is for individuals who are looking to register for Member Self-Service (MSS) for the first time.

 

Step by step guide to registering

Step 1: Information you need to register

You need two pieces of information to start creating an MSS account:

  1. Registration Code
  2. Personal Identification Code

 

Where to find the Registration Code and Personal Identification Code

If you are a hybrid member please contact Equiniti via email HSBCHybridPensions@equiniti.com or telephone 0371 384 2631.

If you are a deferred or pensioner member please contact Equiniti via email HSBCDBPensions@equiniti.com or telephone 0371 384 2620.

We'll need to know

  • Your preferred contact details so we know where to send the codes
  • Three pieces of information from the following list:
    • Full name
    • Date of Birth
    • Full address
    • Member number
    • Payroll number

 

Step 2: Create your MSS account

Click on the 'Log In/Register' button on this page.

When the new page opens, click the 'Register' button.

Enter your Registration Code and Personal Identification Code.

You'll then be asked to provide additional key information about yourself so we can match you to our records.

Step 3: Choose your username and password

Choose a memorable username and password as you will need them every time you log into MSS.

Step 4: Enter your email address

Enter the email address you’d like us to send your account activation link to. You can amend your personal details in the future using the ‘Your Account’ page once you've registered for MSS.

We recommend using a personal email account in case you move organisation.

Step 5: Choose your security questions

You’ll need to choose some security questions just in case you ever need to reset your password. Select three questions from the drop-down list provided.

Click the 'Complete Registration’ button.

Step 6: Activate your account

We’ll send a verification link to the address you entered in Step 4. You should receive this in two or three minutes, though it might take longer depending on your mail provider. Once you receive the email, click the activation link to complete your registration.

If you don’t receive your activation email, check your junk mail folder.

 

 

Problems registering?

Previously registered but forgotten your details?

If you’ve been unable to register – it might be because you already have an account on MSS. You can check and regain access with these steps:

Recover your username

  • Click the Log In/Register button in the top right-hand corner
  • Click on the Forgotten Username link and follow the instructions. Your account will need to be activated (step 6) to do this.

Recover your password

  • Click the Log In/Register button in the top right-hand corner
  • Click on the Forgotten Password link and follow the instructions. Your account will need an activated (step 6) to do this.

Not received your codes?

If you have DB benefits within the HSBC Bank (UK) Pension Scheme and haven't received your codes to register on MSS, please contact Equiniti.

If you are a hybrid member please email HSBCHybridPensions@equiniti.com or telephone 0371 384 2631.

If you are a deferred or pensioner member please email HSBCDBPensions@equiniti.com or telephone 0371 384 2620.

If you’ve followed the guidance above but you’re still having trouble registering or logging in, please email us at hsbcmember.web@equiniti.com with the following information:

  • Your Personal Identification Code
  • Screen shots or specific examples of any error messages you’re seeing.
  • Three pieces of information from the following list:
    • Full name (including any previous/maiden name if appropriate)
    • Date of Birth
    • Full address
